The Alberta Learning Information Service website offers a search program, which lists academic and trades programs and the institutions that offer the courses.
Licensed Training Institutions operating in Central Alberta include the following:
- Red Deer College offers general academic degrees and diplomas, trades and apprenticeship training, and extension services. Red Deer College may also provide training at the proposed Rocky Mountain House Learning Facility.
- Olds College provides agriculture-related and apprenticeship training for western Canada. The college also offers extension services. The College provides off-campus training in Drumheller and Hanna.
- Canadian University College provides academic degrees and diplomas, and religious studies. It is located in Lacombe.
- Maskwachees Cultural College is located in Hobbema and offers general academic and some trades-related training for aboriginal students.
- Prairie Bible College is located in Three Hills, and provides general academic degrees and diplomas, and religious studies.
- Norquest College has a campus in Wetaskiwin and provides training in Health related disciplines along with academic upgrading and preparation, and extension courses.
- The Academy of Learning in Red Deer offers office administration, and information technology related courses.
- Pere Labreque Training Centre in Sylvan Lake is licensed by Alberta Learning to provide training in geriatric care.
Another good resource for on-line distance education is the eCampusAlberta initiative. This is a consortium of 15 Alberta colleges and technical institutes formed to deliver on-line training across the province. |
