There are many organizations including Red Deer College, Olds College, the Business Advisory Network, Community Futures organizations and industry associations that provide training for businesses. Colleges will also design and deliver custom training for corporations.

Career and Employment Services at Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry (AEII) offers a number of programs and services to assist with training workers. AEII also produces various publications for employers

Industry Specific Training
Food Processing Skills Development Initiative
Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Alberta Food Processors Association have partnered to provide a skill development fund to enhance the skills of workers in food processing plants. Cost may be subsidized.

Safety Training
Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry initiated a major safety awareness campaign in 2004 and set aggressive targets for reductions in accidents and deaths on all Alberta worksites. Companies can participate in the "Partners in Injury Reduction" (PIR) program that offers a premium rate discount on their Workers Compensation Board payments if they implement safety programs and achieve standards set by Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry.

- The Alberta Food Processors Association offers various safety training including Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) awareness, On Farm Food Safety, and the Food Safety Program from the Guelph Food Technology Centre. - The Alberta Forest Products Association offers on-line training for Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Legislation, Hazard Assessment and Control, and Incident Investigation. Contact: 780-452-2841
- The Job Safety Skills Society developed the "Job Safe" courses for youth, approved as part of the Career and Technology Studies program by Alberta Learning. Program materials are offered at no cost to youth in junior and senior high schools in Alberta. Contact: 780-413-6876

Training Aboriginal Workers
In addition to the programs listed above, the following is a list of training programs and services for aboriginal workers.
- First Nations Training to Employment - This program involves the development of partnerships between First Nations people, Alberta Human Resources and Employment, and private sector employers. The goal is to provide participants with employment skills, work experience or on-the-job training, job placement, follow-up and employment support. The employer receives support to cover training and project management costs.
- Aboriginal Skills and Employment Partnership Program is aimed at securing and increasing aboriginal participation, in large economic developments and resource-based projects, to help employers meet labour and skill shortages through training-to-retention plans. A minimum of 50 long-term jobs must be provided to be eligible. Funds may be applied towards major economic developments or resource-based projects such as northern mining, oil and gas, and hydro development projects, and more. Pre-employment to employment and retention activities that support the human resource plan are eligible for ASEP funding. - Aboriginal Workforce Participation Initiative is a national initiative designed to help employers recruit, retain and promote Aboriginal employees. The Alberta AWPI Employer Toolkit has been designed to help employers increase their awareness and understanding of issues related to Aboriginal employment and find resources to help them employ Aboriginal peoples. This program is administered by Indian and Northern Affairs Canada.
- Alberta Aboriginal Apprenticeship Project is a pilot project that aims to have 180 aboriginal apprentices by the end of year 5. It was piloted in Edmonton, Fort McMurray and High Level and recently expanded to Calgary and Lethbridge. It is administered by Alberta Learning Apprenticeship Division and The Aboriginal Human Resources Development Council of Canada.
- Building Environmental Aboriginal Human Resources (BEAHR), located in Calgary, has partnered with the Aboriginal HR Council of Canada on an initiative to create 6,000 aboriginal environmental positions in Canada over the next 15 years. BEAHR offers career awareness through a Speakers Program, work experience and training, and internships including an $8000 wage subsidy to hire an Aboriginal post-secondary graduate.
- Regional Partnerships Fund promotes First Nations and Inuit participation in major regional development initiatives, in such areas as infrastructure projects, initiatives in tourism, and resource development. Partnerships must include non-federal participants, including Aboriginal, provincial/territorial and municipal governments, but with a preference for private sector participation. Funding will be determined on a case-by-case basis and will not exceed 66% of total project value. Benefits to be considered include transferable workforce skills development and workforce experience. This program is funded by Indian and Northern Affairs Canada.

Training Workers with Disabilities
In addition to the programs listed above, the following is a list of training-related programs and services for workers with disabilities.
- Disability Awareness Series (DAS) provides information and tools to employers trying to create an inclusive workplace and workforce. The Canadian Council on Rehabilitation on Work (CCRW) sponsors the program.
- Disability Related Employment Supports - DRES. Disability related employment supports provide assistance to Albertans in overcoming the barriers to employment created by their disability. Supports can include workplace supports, job search, education and training, and/or assistive technology. This program is administered by Alberta Human Resources and Employment.
- Opportunities Fund. This program is designed to help persons with disabilities develop skills or obtain employment. Employers trying to integrate disabled employees into their business may recieve funding to cover wages or employment realted costs. Human Resources and Skills Development Canda sponsors the Opportunity Fund.

Training Foreign Workers
- Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada provides basic language instruction in one of Canada's official languages to adult immigrants as soon as possible after their arrival in Canada, so that they may acquire the necessary language skills to integrate into Canadian society. This program is administered by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
- Immigrant Settlement and Adaptation Program provides funding to organizations to provide settlement services including support, English as a Second Language, and orientation.
- Host program matches newcomers and resident Canadians who volunteer to teach newcomers about services, make employment contacts, and practice English.
- Basic Skills/Academic Upgrading. Alberta Human Resources and Employment's Work Foundations program offers basic skills training to low income Albertans, enabling them to access further education or training or to improve their employment situtaion. Academic Upgrading, English as a Second Language, and general employability skills training are available.
- Foreign Credentials Referral Office (FCRO) provides information, tools, path-finding and referral services on foreign credentials recognition to help foreign-trained workers succeed and put their skills to work in Canada more quickly. It is part of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
