Two of Canada's busiest and most efficient international airports are located just to the north and south of Central Alberta in Edmonton and Calgary. These airports offer passenger, charter and air cargo service. Regularly scheduled flights connect with points in Canada, U.S., Europe and the Pacific Rim.
The Regional Airport Red Deer located 8 kilometers south of the City of Red Deer is Alberta's third busiest airport. It offers regularly scheduled flights, commercial charter flights, recreational use and training.
Northwestern Air Offers scheduled service. A base of operations was opened up in Red Deer in the Fall of 2006. Twice weekly scheduled air service to Fort McMurray with east- west additions to commence in spring 2010 to Kelowna and Abbotsford.
Swanberg Air Offers scheduled service. Commencing scheduled air service in fall 2009 from Red Deer to Grande Prairie and on to Dawson Creek, Fort St. John and Fort Nelson. In November 2009, service expanded from Red Deer to Calgary, Swift Current, Regina and Estevan.
Other regional airports in the Central Alberta are located in Castor, Coronation, Didsbury, Innisfail, Lacombe, Ponoka, Rimbey, Rocky Mountain House, Stettler, Sundre, Three Hills, and Wetaskiwin.
