Community Liaison Coordinator
The Organization:
Central Alberta Economic Partnership (CAEP) is a regional economic development alliance of 35 municipal, 1 First Nations and 12 associate members representing a population of just under 300,000 Central Alberta citizens. Founded in 1998, CAEP is noted as being the pioneer of regional economic development in Alberta. Our initiatives enhance sustainable economic prosperity across Central Alberta by facilitating collaboration between communities, business, industry, government, and other relevant organizations. The Central Alberta Economic Partnership is the regional “go to” resource for tools to assist both rural and urban members in the many arenas of economic development.
The Opportunity:
The Community Liaison Coordinator position is a contract position with the primary responsibility for marketing and communications of CAEP to develop and foster member engagement. For a creative, energetic and impactful team player who believes in the value of empowering communities to be sustainable, CAEP provides a rewarding, stimulating, and diverse work environment. The position reports directly to the Executive Director. This is a 1 year contract position with a high probability of extension. Pay is commensurate with experience.
There are two components to this position:
1) Marketing and Communications: 3-4 days/week
2) Community Economic Development: 1-2 days/week
Marketing and Communications:
 Contribute to the development and implementation of a communications and marketing plan including cohesive branding strategy and an effective social media campaign all of which will hit key target audiences and heighten the awareness of CAEP, its function, and its members.
 Report on measurable impact and effectiveness of digital and social media campaign; adjust strategy as needed.
 Develop multiple purpose marketing collateral including regular member communications (QuickNotes) for distribution via email blasts
 Writing and distribution of press releases and other news stories
 Provide support and develop publications like Showcase and Economic Indicators Reports for all communities and for the Central Alberta region
 Provide support & develop notifications as well as invitations to events and training hosted by CAEP through Constant Contact
 Coordinate and implement special events, attend trade shows, functions, and events as needed
 Support with CAEP projects as required including website redevelopment
 Perform other duties as required
Community Economic Development:
 With support from the ED, develop the rover program including determining criteria for ranking support requests
 Market the program to CAEP members and achieving buy in
 Identify needs of members, specifically trends where CAEP can best utilize its resources for the greatest impact to advance sustainable regional economic development
 Think critically, and provide options/recommendations in regards to program development
 Coordinate, develop, and implement qualified approved projects with the assistance of the ED
 Provide reports on the program and present to the board with support from ED on the program
 Assess challenges and opportunities in the program and work with ED to adjust accordingly
This position is able to flex its hours relative to commitments. It is expected that most hours occur within the office however there is some flexibility to work remotely. Once the Community Economic Development Coordinator portion is built out and implemented, it is expected that the position will be 35-40 hrs per week. Some evening and weekend work will be required.
 Completion of a recognized post-secondary degree in a recognized field and/or combination of education and work experience
 Great team player and able to work independently
 Excellent written and verbal communication
 Ability to balance multiple projects and has sound organizational skills
 Effective creativity and sound knowledge of current marketing techniques
 Experience in marketing and communications including the development & implementation of social media campaigns
 Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
 Ability to navigate websites, add where needed and work with web developer for updates
 Economic development experience is an asset
 Valid Alberta driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
 Ability to travel throughout Central Alberta region to deliver roving EDO services
 Ability to work within platforms like Publisher and Constant Contact
 Ability to learn new skills
